Music Update!

-Kings of Leon have shot to the number 2 position on the US iTunes chart with the anthemic Use Somebody. Took long enough. Congrats, boys!

-Good Girls Go Bad, the collaboration between Cobra Starship and Gossip Gal Leighton Meester is rising in the chart, standing at number 5 on iTunes. Very exciting!

-Across the pond, JLS are still topping the UK iTunes with their debut Beat Again and Kanye West's new protege (even though he's been around in England for awhile) Mr Hudson's newest single, Supernova, featuring Mr. West is at the number 2 position. Very impressive debut for that song!

All around congratulations are in order.

Home

I returned home the other day to discover some great things about Top 40 radio that I'd missed while away. KISS 108 is now playing Use Somebody by Kings of Leon, When Love Takes Over by Kelly Rowland and David Guetta, That's Not my Name by The Ting Tings, and Hush Hush by PCD! Hearing the words "Now new music. Kings of Leon. Use Somebody." is positively shocking and wonderful (I think) at the same time considering how not mainstream they used to be. Also, Use Somebody has been out for quite awhile already charting at #2 in the UK and doing very well in other countries overseas. The rest of the world have gotten on the KOL bandwagon faster than the US. Use Somebody is a very mainstream song perhaps their most accessible to date. It deserves success. It's been a slow rise for the song, but a few weeks ago they did it on the MTV Movie Awards which did wonders. It climbed up the charts to #19 on the Hot 100 and is currently at #23. This is good news. Still weird to hear Kings of Leon on KISS though. Also, KISS is about a year late on the Ting Tings song. The big news is the fact that When Love Takes Over which just went to #1 in the UK yesterday is being played on KISS now. It sounds amazing on the radio. I never thought it would be on the radio. I thought it would just chart on the US dance charts and do really well overseas like it's doing in Italy. It's such a euphoric and anthemic song. Other chart news: La Roux's next single, the hard-hitting Bulletproof, has raced up to Number 1 on the UK iTunes chart. I think it was released yesterday. It's such a great song. We'll see if it's number 1 come Sunday. Also, well I was away Keri Hilson's genius song Knock You Down zoomed up the charts! It's currently at number 3! Yay, finally chart success here for Keri. Well that was a lot. Ah, I love the charts.

Tidbits

-Girls Aloud new album will be titled Out of Control and will be released in the UK on November 10!!!! I'm so excited. Kimberely Walsh, second from right, says the new album is: "a lot older sounding...It wasn't intentional - it was just kind of how it went...The '60s thing is quite prominent... But it's out of the ordinary. Not really what you'd expect," (Source BBC News). This sounds very interesting.

-Kings of Leon new album faired well on the US charts, coming in at #4 after having sold 75,000 copies. You go, boys!

Tidbits

-Kings of Leon are number 1 on the UK charts for a third week in a row, and their new album, Only By the Night, released September 22 there, hit number 1 too. Congrats! I finally watched their performance on last week's SNL and they were really good. Jared's weave looked amazing. By the way, the new album is really, really good. Use Somebody is an epic, anthemic song. This album is definetely much more anthemic than Because of the Times.

-Jennifer Hudson released her debut album today, and it is getting mixed reviews.

-Anne Hathaway hosts SNL this Saturday, and The Killers are the musical guest. I wonder how Anne will do. She's not exactly hilarious.

- OMGGGGGGGGGG! The Gossip Girl boys grace the cover of Details magazine looking fiiiiine except Chace's hair is kinda messed.

Tidbits

-The new Kings of Leon album, Only By the Night, was released today and it is currently #1 on the iTunes album chart. This is really good news! Also, Sex on Fire has moved up to #58 in the iTunes Top 100.

-Disney darling, Demi Lovato's debut, is number 2 on the iTunes album chart beating out the new Pussycat Dolls album, for today, at least. Lovato's album has some decent pop-rock ditties on it.

-TV on the Radio's new album currently stands at #5 and Cold War Kids' new one is at #9. Lots of good new albums out today!

-Britney Spears new single Womanizer won't be released to radio until next Monday, the 29th. Oh well.

Tidbits

-Lindsay Lohan will be the guest judge for the sixth season premiere of Project Runway in January on Lifetime (grr...Bravo is better, Bravo is the shiz). That will be interesting.

-Kings of Leon are Number 1 in the UK (on the charts and on itunes) with their song Sex on Fire from their new album which comes out next week. The ironic thing is that Sex on Fire or any other Kings of Leon song aren't even in the US iTunes Top 100.

-Lady GaGa's video for her second single Beautiful, Dirty, Rich is out. It includes clips from ABC's soapy, delicious Dirty Sexy Money which stars the wonderful Peter Krause. There is more Sexy Money than GaGa, but she still leaves a mark with her outrageous outfits. It's basically a promo for the show. Well, the new season looks like it will be super juicy and expectedly over the top. Perfect song for this show. Well done, GaGa.
