Amy Poehler

Last night was The Best of Amy Poehler on SNL. It was a hilarious collection of her best sketches. I wish they showed more. She is a wonderful comedienne. One of the sketches they showed involved a Poehler character named Kaitlin, a 10 year old ball of energy. Poehler played the character to absolute perfection. She WAS Kaitlin. Hilarious.


Another notable skit was Bronx Beat where Poehler and the hilarious Maya Rudolph played two whining New Yawk wives. Very funny.

Michaela Watkins and her genius bitchpleeze blogger character, Angie Tempura, returned to SNL's Weekend Update last weekend. She reviewed current movies. It was hilarious, very accurate satire. Better than the first bitchpleeze. "The Haunting in Connecticut. What's scary about Connecticut?....Losing your tennis racket....at Pottery Barn? Bitch, pleeze" I love how she comes up with so many different ways to say Bitch Pleeze. Fantastic.

Kristen Wiig's Gillie character also returned. Very funny. I just can't get over her kooky dance and facial expressions.

Hilarity

Kristen Wiig has created another hilarious character to add to her repetoire: Gilly, a demented elementary school student. Genius.

New SNL cast member Michaela Watkins made a memorable appearance on Weekend Update a few weeks ago as a gossip blogger commenting on the Oscars. Bitch Pleeze!

The premiere of 30 Rock the other night was great. Also, it had 8.6 million viewers which are the best ratings the show has ever had. Yay!! There were so many clever and hilarious moments. Here are a few:

-Jenna's commercial for Tokyo University
-Tracy Jordan saying Noblesse Oblige
-Jenna saying: "I met Liz back in '93. I was dating O.J. Simpson then. He was really a gentleman," to the woman who is evaluating Liz to see if she is fit to adopt a child
-Jack having to seduce Don Geiss's "special" daughter who loves Mark Wahlberg and soap operas to the sounds of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch
-Liz saying to Jack: "I had to hide all my Colin Firth movies in case they were considered erotica," Hahah. I love Liz. Also, how she had penis pasta.
-The fact that Liz keeps calling one of the black guys at work the name of the other black guy who works there. Also, the fact that the adoption agency evaluator has a black husband.
-The evaluator was played wonderfully by Megan Mullally (Karen from Will and Grace)
-When Jack and Liz had to have a pretend love scene in front of Don Geiss' daughter

Also, apparently Jon Hamm (Don Draper of Mad Men) will be doing a few episodes of the show playing Liz's love interest!!! So exciting. I love Jon Hamm. He was pretty darn funny on SNL last weekend. Ah yay! Oprah guest stars next week. Amazing.

Amy Poehler

Amy Poehler, the genius comedienne, who lights up SNL every weekend, and has created some hilarious movie characters, will be leaving the show for maternity leave in November, and she will not be coming back. She will be working with the American creator of The Office on a new series that she will star in. I'm so sad. She is amazing on SNL with her hilarious impressions (especially Hillary Clinton) and great comic timing. Well, maybe this will make her even more popular, but still this is a great loss for SNL.

P.S. She and her husband, funnyman Will Arnett, are such an awesome couple. I love him. She is so lucky. Grrr.
